Personal Quote:
So I have a few questions on what would be a good art program for the pc to work on turning drawings into more digital art than coloring with colored pencils. Don't get me wrong, I love my colored pencils, but sometimes good pencils for coloring break easy, or the quality of the paper is just crappy since I can't afford anything else.

My questions are, what are some of the programs YOU'VE used, what kind of results can you expect with it, are there some that you can get stuff for like a drawing tablet that will work interactively with the program to get more precision than with a mouse pad on a latptop keyboard or a roller mouse, and what can I expect the best of the best of art programs to run for? Are there some where you can actually blend colors so that it doesn't just look all blocky when you shade and stuff? And how can I go about purchasing one of these programs without getting ripped offf? I really want to step up the finishing process of creating a piece, once all my inking is done. Sometimes I feel like for certain projects, colored pencils just really don't cut it, and that when I try to do a serious background for a piece, it just dumbs down or diminishes the drawing, because it looks like a five-year-old did it because of the lack of color options with colored pencils, especially if you're ever too broke (like right now) to buy more, or tp buy the really expensive kinds.

Please let me know what you think, as well as what programs are actually worth their price. :)
Any advice would be appreciated. ^_^
